Genetic Factors Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition with no known cure and, in most cases, no known cause but scientists are getting closer to identifying possible environmental and genetic risks which may play a part. Medications and Treatments Medications can be very effective in treating the symptoms of Parkinson’s. While medications cannot cure Parkinson's, new and improved formulations may help to lessen symptoms and, in turn, improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s. Medicaton Precautions There are some precautions that need to be observed when taking Parkinson’s medications. Interactions may occur when taking other prescriptions, over the counter medications, and herbal supplements. It is also important for patients to understand the importance of closely following their prescription and what benefit they should expect from the medication. Anxiety and Parkinson's Anxiety can be a part of Parkinson’s for many people. People with Parkinson’s should understand that anxiety and depression are not the same thing and, most importantly, there are very effective treatments available.
